Job Summary:
The Systems Engineer is responsible for Servers of client networks. Further responsibilities include monitoring internal Systems including, but not limited to Backups, Patch Management, Daily operations and helping ensure an optimized and stable server infrastructure. Responsible for following established standards, commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within the production environment while following the ITIL Framework. The Systems Engineer must meet high levels of service and support for the server infrastructure.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Installs, configures and maintains organization’s Server infrastructure objects, e.g. Servers, Backups, and Patch Management.
• Monitors Servers and Systems for resource usage and reports information to team.
• Manages, Monitors, and Improves current VMware Farm
• Work with Vendors to design systems and quote out all pieces necessary
• Proactively researches, analyzes trends and recommends steps towards implementation of optimizing server infrastructure objects.
• Participates in reviewing existing instructions, guidelines, standards and policies seeking continuous improvement.
• Assists in developing instructions, guidelines, standards and /or policies. Seeks resolution to Tier III work orders escalated through the IT Support Process.
• Develops and publishes monthly production statistics, as directed, to report on system performance.
• Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish all work tasks and has a certain degree of creativity and latitude.
• Works within a team environment; typically with guidance from a senior systems engineer, project lead or manager.
Education and Experience:
• BA or BS Degree - Computer Information Management or related discipline required.
• MCSE, RHCE, or VMware Certified Professional Certifications a plus
• 5 + years systems experience
Technical Knowledge:
• Demonstrates an expert level of Windows, Linux, or VMware Operating systems or some combination of all
• Demonstrates skills on use of system analysis tools.
• Demonstrates a thorough understanding of System design and integration.
Interpersonal skills:
• Demonstrated problem solving abilities.
• Function as a member of a work team, self motivated and highly responsible.
• Ability to work effectively with our customers.
• Good oral and written communications skills.
• Maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information.
Working Conditions:
• Work in corporate environment which allows for team work and good communication skills.
Travel Requirements:
• 10% Travel Time
